The badge in the window.
Seen “We’re a FairTIP Employer” on a door, a till, or in a job ad? Here’s what that venue is telling you.
What it means.
A venue displaying the badge runs its tips through FairTIP, and that comes with commitments the whole team can check:
- Tips are shared fairly and in full. The pool is split by an agreed method, and what the customer left is what the team receives.
- The split is visible to the whole team. Everyone can see the pool, the method, their hours and their share. Nobody just gets told a number.
- Every allocation is signed off. Once signed, it can’t be quietly changed. What the team sees is what gets paid.
- The records the law asks for are kept. A written tipping policy and three years of records, as the Tipping Act 2023 requires.
If you’re leaving a tip
It reaches the people who looked after you. Your tip joins the pool, gets split by the agreed method, and lands in the team’s pay through the venue’s own payroll. No third party holds it on the way.
If you work there, or want to
Expect to see the maths. Your hours, your share, and how it was worked out, every period, signed and dated. And if you’re job hunting, a venue showing the badge is telling you how it treats tips before you’ve had to ask.
