Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies FairTIP uses, and why. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They’re used to remember things like whether you’re signed in. We use the word “cookies” here as shorthand for all similar technologies, including browser local storage and session storage.
FairTIP doesn’t set any third-party cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Everything below is operational: sign-in, security, and aggregate analytics.
2. What FairTIP uses
2.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for the Service to work. They’re set without consent because the Service wouldn’t function without them. UK PECR Regulation 6 recognises this exception.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sb-<project-ref>-auth-token | Supabase authentication session. Keeps you signed in across pages. The <project-ref> is our specific Supabase project identifier. | 1 week or until you sign out |
Supabase Auth also stores the same authentication token in browser local storage, in addition to the cookie above. This is functionally equivalent to a cookie for our purposes and is covered by the same explanation.
2.2 Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate usage of the marketing site (which pages are viewed, broad geographic regions, browser types). Vercel Analytics is documented by Vercel as cookieless. It doesn’t set identifiers in your browser and doesn’t track you across other sites. Data is aggregated server-side; we don’t see individual visitor data.
Because no identifying cookies are set, no consent banner is required. If we add a tracker that does require consent in future, we’ll add a consent banner and update this policy.
3. Managing cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies via their settings:
If you block the strictly-necessary cookies in section 2.1, FairTIP won’t work. You won’t be able to sign in.
You can opt out of all Vercel Analytics by using a private/incognito window or a privacy-friendly browser that blocks tracking scripts. Vercel Analytics is documented by Vercel as honouring Do Not Track signals.
4. Updates
If we change what cookies we use, we’ll update this page and (where the change requires it) ask for your consent.
