About FairTIP

A small team, one clear problem.

In October 2024, UK law changed: every tip a customer leaves must reach hospitality workers in full, split using a written method workers can see. Eighteen months later, most workers we’ve spoken to still can’t tell you how their tips are calculated, or whether the maths even adds up. FairTIP exists to fix that.

Who we are

A small team in Edinburgh, building FairTIP with the close involvement of a working operator: a head chef and restaurant owner of fifteen years. We’ve seen the policies, the payslips, the HMRC correspondence, and the conversations that happen at the end of a shift. The product reflects what we found.

What we’re not

We don’t handle payments. Tips still flow through your normal till and payroll. We don’t replace your accountant or your troncmaster. We’re not a union, not a regulator, and not a tax advisor. We’re the software that makes the maths visible to the people earning the tips.

Where the money goes

Restaurants pay a flat monthly subscription, from £59 to £99 a month depending on team size. One subscription covers every venue. No setup fees, no per-transaction skim, no tying you to a payments platform you don’t need. Cancel any time. 5% of every subscription goes to a UK hospitality charity. We’re finalising a partnership with Hospitality Action; if it lands, every penny goes there. If it doesn’t, we’ll place it with an equivalent organisation and publish the receipts.

Get in touch

Two ways to reach us.

If you’re a hospitality worker, head back to the homepage and ask your venue to join. If you’re running a venue, see what FairTIP costs and what it does for compliance. For partnerships or anything else, email us directly.
